(Mental Health Conversations): Matt Mucerino of CROSSING I’S DOTTING T’S

Editor's Note:  Matt Mucerino of Crossing I's Dotting T's converses with Madness To Creation to talk about mental health, music and their latest EP.  Crossing I's Dotting T's, out of Costa Mesa, California, recently released their EP, which is one of the most heartfelt EP's I've heard in quite sometime.  Their self-titled EP was inspired by Matt losing his cousin/best friend to cancer at the age of 21.  Their song "See You At Your Funeral" is specifically about his cousin/best friend, while the other songs touch on mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and not feeling wanted.  This EP is a wonderful listen as it mixes the 90's power rock along with the 2000's brand of post-hardcore/emo, and I see Crossing I's Dotting T's doing very well for themselves in the future.  Fans can fi...

Hollywood Stars Who Starred in Bands

Alongside music, Hollywood is another outlet that helps people with their personal wellbeing. A great album uplifts the spirits and can make you feel better in yourself, and a good film can do the same. Often, a movie with a great soundtrack hits two birds with one stone and stands out from the crowd. Thanks to great music, films such as The Crow and even chick-flick Dirty Dancing were elevated to popularity beyond their cinematic qualities. Sometimes, musicians cross over into films, too. Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne appeared in the 2000 release Little Nicky, as well as Austin Powers: Goldmember. Gwen Stefani (Aviator), Cher (Moonstruck) and David Bowie (Labyrinth) have all swapped the recording studio for the film studio, with moderate success. That gives their fans somethi...

Shine on You Crazy Diamond – Pink Floyd This hit Pink Floyd song is one of the sadness. (Album Review): “Beautiful Machine” by MATT BOROFF

Some of you reading this may or may not have heard of today’s offering. But chances are that by the end of the album, you’ll be asking yourselves why not. Two things that are hallmarks of great releases are those which push the proverbial envelope and those which intentionally or unintentionally display a level of purity like Beautiful Machine – the new album from Matt Boroff. And listeners will hear both of those herein. Right away, Matt shows is lack of fear in bringing his voice to the forefront of the music. No hiding behind reverb for this guy. Not even Numan-esque effects. Bands like Black Angel or The Awakening might come to mind in this regard as well as in some of the approach of the tracks. Matt is all across the board and yet under the same dome with this new one – his fourth ...

Contributor's Note:  Paul Leary aka the end-all be-all of the legendary noise rock band The Butthole Surfers appeared on the 202nd episode of The Don's Hit List with The Don & The Grizz.  This included Madness To Creation on this special episode.  In this episode, Paul Leary discusses his awesome solo album entitled "Born Stupid", which comes out February 12th via Shimmy Disc/Joyful Noise.  This album showcases another side to the brilliance that is Paul Leary.  Instead of the atomic punk energy and fuzz metal that fans have came to "expect" from The Butthole Surfers, expect to hear beer waltzes, carnival sideshow calliopes and spaghetti western motifs from "Born Stupid".  In this podcast, Paul Leary talks about how Devo was a major influence in his career, his friendship with Kurt...

(Album Review): “Dead Kids, R.I.P. City” by SOFT KILL + Livestream Review

On November 20th, legendary post-punk band Soft Kill released "Dead Kids, R.I.P. City" to the masses via Cercle Social Records/Cobraside.  This includes the singles "Floodgate" featuring Tamaryn, "Pretty Face" and "Roses All Around".  The album takes on the tale of Portland, Oregon the past 20 years with a story of melancholy on how the simple times are seemingly lost to the tech-fueled transformation of the city.  The album was produced by Howie Weinberg, who has produced The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana.  Here is our take on the album: If you have a love of seeking new music you know if an album is worth your time in the first 30 seconds, often in the first few notes.  Soft Kill comes crashing through a fog of strings on their opening track, “Roses All Around” and immediately in...
