(Concert Therapy Reviews): GREAT WHITE Live at Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa (7/17/2021)

It's in the air.  Life is back to a relative normal.  Masks are off, social distancing is ceasing to exist and for an evening, life felt like it was before the Covid pandemic.  Legendary 80's rock band Great White took the stage at the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa this past Saturday. Honestly, I've never been to a show at a casino besides a Michael Jackson impersonator concert at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.  It was a different vibe going through the lines of slot machines, blackjack tables and video poker machines to get to the Diamond Jo Casino Ballroom.  There was no opening act and Great White came in right as scheduled and didn't waste time by getting into their song "Desert Moon." The crowd was rocking and ready for a night of nostalgia with Great White in this intimate ...

(Concert Therapy Reviews): VIXEN Live at The Landis Theater in Vineland, New Jersey (7/11/2021)

While trying to write this review... all I keep referencing back to in my mind is Lorraine Lewis's use of the term "Hella-cool". If I may be so bold, I'd like to use this word to describe the recent Vixen show I was lucky enough to see. Vixen has been rocking the stages for the past few decades and in their original hey-day I wasn't able to see them. However this time around, that was not the case. Playing recently at the beautiful Landis Theater in Vineland, NJ, I was not going to miss this opportunity. Local NJ Cat Manning opened up the show. I was unfamiliar with her work before hearing her at this show. But I have to say WHAT A TALENT. Cat has a great voice- powerful, expressive and she can really belt out a tune. She has the kind of voice which makes people take notice. A little bit ...

(Concert Review) SILVERSTEIN & FOUR YEAR STRONG Live at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey (3/7/2020)

Luckily, we got to see Silverstein and Four Year Strong as Silverstein celebrated 20 years as a band with three sets with Four Year Strong providing support along with I, The Mighty!  It was a packed house as Silverstein has the reputation of absolutely delivering each and every night live!  Silverstein has also released "A Beautiful Place To Drown" while Four Year Strong is celebrating the recent release of "Brain Pain" via Pure Noise Records.  I, The Mighty was the first band on the bill. San Francisco's I, The Mighty were the perfect crowd to warm up the crowd for Silverstein and Four Year Strong.  Their vocals are soulful and versatile, and the guitars seemed to have provided perfect harmonics in order to create a fantastic alternative rock sound.  The songs "Pet Names", "Failures" an...

(Concert Review) SKILLET Live at Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (2/26/2020)

It was such a "legendary" night at a packed house at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City as Skillet with special guests From Ashes To New and Ledger brought a night of exciting rock and showmanship to Sooner country.  Skillet is currently on the "Victorious" tour and decided to give their drummer's band a shot with Ledger opening up the show.   Photo Credit for Ledger:  Ledger I didn't know what to expect when it came to Ledger.  I knew that they were pretty significant in the Christian rock genre, but they blew me away live!  I always dug Ledger's background vocals in Skillet as she added another dynamic to some of Skillet's mainstream rock hits.  Ledger definitely showcased a lot of charisma and confidence opening up and they did a phenomenal job warming up the crowd for Fro...

(Concert Review) FALLING IN REVERSE Live at House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio (2/18/2020)

It was an absolutely fucking amazing night as Falling In Reverse headlined "The Drug In Me Is Gold" tour with special guests Escape The Fate and The Word Alive.  It was a packed house, especially for a weeknight at the House of Blues in Cleveland, where the floor was completely sold out, with just a small smattering of balcony seats available for the show. It was a hyped night as Escape The Fate and The Word Alive definitely did their job by warming up the crowd for Falling In Reverse.  I've been really digging the song "Popular Monster" as of late, as that song has been really resonating with so many people and touching so many lives due to their take on mental health awareness.  Falling In Reverse started off with their songs "The Westerner" and "Goodbye Graceful" and in the middle of...

(Concert Review) QUEENSRYCHE live at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey (2/15/2020)

The verdict is in, Queensryche  still rocks after all these years. After a tumultuous decade, they have entered 2020 with a renewed energy and vigor. This past Saturday night I experienced the new live stage show for this year’s Verdict tour. And I have to say I was most impressed. Opening support for the band on this run is NYC rockers Eve to Adam with direct support coming from guitarist extraordinaire, the one and only John 5.   Eve to Adam hit the stage with their high-energy brand of hard rock full force. I saw the crowd respond to them very positively. Though there was a faction who weren’t familiar with the band and their songs, they were very easy to get into. Their songs had good grooves with powerful vocals. Though their set was short, the crowd really got into the mat...

(Concert Review) ALTER BRIDGE with CLINT LOWERY live at The Apollo Theatre in Belvidere, Illinois (2/14/2020)

It was a chilly Valentine's Day evening in Belvidere, Illinois as Alter Bridge's Walk the Sky 2020 tour came through. Both couples and groups of singles made it their destination for the holiday evening, as the balcony was completely sold out, and with very little room to spare in the standing room only general admission section.   Rock group Deepfall opened up the evening's festivities. They had passed through the Apollo Theatre AC just months before, as the opening act on Hellyeah's latest tour. They played a similar group of songs, with their cover of Journey's "Separate Ways" being the crowd attention grabber of the set.   Up next was Clint Lowery, who, known primarily as the guitarist of metal band Sevendust, has been involved with numerous other side projects where ...

(Concert Review) KORN & BREAKING BENJAMIN Live at BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, Illinois (2/6/2020)

It was a near sellout at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, IL for Korn and Breaking Benjamin's 2020 Winter Tour. Rock group Bones UK opened the show for the already mostly full arena. They mentioned it was their biggest tour yet, in terms of venue size. I felt that their vibe would be better suited for a smaller venue, but it's nice that they were able to showcase themselves for so many new faces on this large tour. They put on a short set, which included a cover of David Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans."   Breaking Benjamin hit the stage next, opening their set with their hit "The Diary of Jane." I'd wager to say that Breaking Benjamin may be one of the easiest bands to sing along with, as nearly all of their songs have a catchy chorus. The entire arena seemed to agree w...
