(Album Review) “Viscera” by DEMON HEAD

Describing themselves with the term DIABOLIC ROCK, the talented five piece bring in a dark, Gothic element to their sound. The quintet have come a long way on their journey exploring an array of different sounds and musical styles with each releases. 2015 saw the release of 'Ride The Wilderness' and it's classic rock focus. 2017's 'Thunder on the Fields' and 2019's 'Hellfire Ocean Void' saw Demon Head's sound transition to the darker, more ethereal side in this Friday's release "Viscera". Opening with 'Tooth and Nail', the album has a strong introduction. The guitars bring the rock element which seems to act as a grounding for the music. The vocals from Marcus Ferreira Larsen are very distinctive - I'm almost getting some post-punk vibes similar to the likes of New Order. The vocals in 'A...

(Single Premiere) “Backroads, Crickets And Toads” by BOOMBOX POETS ft. LIL HUJO

Boombox Poets are presenting something a bit different with their new single 'Backroads, Crickets And Toads'. With the additions of Anthony Slack (guitar), Antonio Edward (bass), Animal Tom (drums, vocals) and Jake Buckley (keyboard), Boombox Poets combine lyrically driven Hip Hop / Rap with heavy influences of Rock, Metal, Blues, and Funk. (Album Review) “Der Neue Nachbar” by HERR SCHMIDT

‘Der Neue Nachbar’ is the debut album from German rock artist, Herr Schmidt. Herr Schmidt has chosen to maintain an air of mystique by keeping his identity hidden, therefore, the music must speak for itself. The album opens with 'Zukunft' which has a classic rock inspired feel with the guitar tones and keys sounds used. There are a few of those distinctive electric organ styles synths used throughout. They blend well with the guitars. It's a little Deep Purple-esque in a manner of speaking. The lyrics across the album are sung in the artist's native German, and the texture of the vocals suits the music well. 'Nagel der Zeit' delivers more of a ballad style track. It shows of a higher range of the vocals and some nicely composed melodies across the instruments. 'Wir Zwei' differs further...
