(Concert Therapy Reviews): GREAT WHITE Live at Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa (7/17/2021)

It's in the air.  Life is back to a relative normal.  Masks are off, social distancing is ceasing to exist and for an evening, life felt like it was before the Covid pandemic.  Legendary 80's rock band Great White took the stage at the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood, Iowa this past Saturday. Honestly, I've never been to a show at a casino besides a Michael Jackson impersonator concert at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.  It was a different vibe going through the lines of slot machines, blackjack tables and video poker machines to get to the Diamond Jo Casino Ballroom.  There was no opening act and Great White came in right as scheduled and didn't waste time by getting into their song "Desert Moon." The crowd was rocking and ready for a night of nostalgia with Great White in this intimate ...

(Concert Therapy Reviews): VIXEN Live at The Landis Theater in Vineland, New Jersey (7/11/2021)

While trying to write this review... all I keep referencing back to in my mind is Lorraine Lewis's use of the term "Hella-cool". If I may be so bold, I'd like to use this word to describe the recent Vixen show I was lucky enough to see. Vixen has been rocking the stages for the past few decades and in their original hey-day I wasn't able to see them. However this time around, that was not the case. Playing recently at the beautiful Landis Theater in Vineland, NJ, I was not going to miss this opportunity. Local NJ Cat Manning opened up the show. I was unfamiliar with her work before hearing her at this show. But I have to say WHAT A TALENT. Cat has a great voice- powerful, expressive and she can really belt out a tune. She has the kind of voice which makes people take notice. A little bit ...

(The Don’s Hit List with The Don & The Grizz Ep. 201): Richard Black of SHARK ISLAND

Contributor's Note:  Richard Black of the legendary Sunset Strip band Shark Island appeared on The Don's Hit List with The Don & The Grizz for the 201st episode via FAB Radio International.  In this episode, Richard discusses playing live in Los Angeles at the Sunset Strip and having to compete amongst a sea(no pun intended) of bands with very limited venue space in Los Angeles.  In 1989, Shark Island signed to Epic Records and released their debut album entitled "Law of the Order", which featured the amazing songs "Dangerous" and "Father Time".  The aforementioned songs were featured in the legendary movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and the song "My City" was featured in the movie "Point Break".  After Shark Island, Richard would be in the short-lived supergroup Contraba...

(Mental Health Conversations): ETERNAL FREQUENCY

Editor's Note:  Recently, Harrisburg hard rockers Eternal Frequency released their blistering cover of "The Show Must Go On" by Queen.  It was one of those things where I didn't know what to expect, but if you can cover Queen and do it well, you are amazing.  Frontwoman Emelle just killed it on the vocals and the rest of the band were just on point with the arrangements of this cover. They have also released a music video for "Parasite" which has over 140,000 hits on YouTube.  They are making a name for themselves in the Pennsylvania hard rock scene and they have shared the stage with Of Mice & Men, Smile Empty Soul, Vixen and Sponge.  In this mental health conversation with Madness To Creation, Eternal Frequency discusses "The Show Must Go On", mental health awareness and the Covid-19...

JANET GARDNER (ex-VIXEN) Converses with Mark of Madness To Creation on Total Creative Freedom on her New Material and Why She Left Vixen!

Contributor's Note:  As the former lead vocalist of the legendary female rock band Vixen, Janet Gardner’s powerful vocals propelled Vixen to the top of the Billboard charts with crossover hits “Edge of a Broken Heart” and “Cryin'” and AOR rockers “How Much Love” and “Love is a Killer.” Vixen toured extensively, grinding out 200 shows per year, opening for the likes of Deep Purple, Ozzy Osbourne, The Scorpions, Kiss, and Bon Jovi.   Teaming up with guitarist/songwriter/producer Justin James (who has worked with members of Staind, Collective Soul, Tyketto), Gardner ventured into the solo realm to unleash a new side of her musical creativity. Together, Janet and Justin penned a collection of emotionally charged songs with gritty grooves, infectious hooks, and inspired lyrics that m...

Mark Kendall of Great White Discusses “Full Circle” and the Creative Process with Madness To Creation!

Editor's Note:  It is a great change of pace interviewing some of my heroes from when I was growing up as a kid.  I remember the song "Rock Me" by Great White, and how it is still one of my all-time favorite songs.  That song brings back so many memories for me.  Then, new heroes and new trends come along, but Great White still keeps on trucking as they released "Full Circle" on June 2nd.  "Full Circle" showcases Great White as musicians and how they are picking up where they have left off since Jack Russell formed his own Great White entitled "Jack Russell's Great White", and Terry Ilous from XYZ fame came over to join the fray as the new frontman for Great White.  Terry brings a bluesy, distinctive voice to the band.  I really appreciate Mark Kendall's down-to-earth demeanor and he seems...
