Editor’s Note: 2019 could be a sleeper year for Albany, New York pop/punk band YOUNG CULTURE! Young Culture is riding some serious momentum as they recently signed a record deal with Equal Vision Records, and their recent music video for “21 Days” has over 20,000 hits on YouTube despite only being released last month. That is not too shabby for an upstart pop-punk band. They will also be embarking on a spring tour with Seaway. I’ve been on kick lately revisiting music I grew up listening to, or that my parents listened to. I always loved that these Don Henley and The Beach Boys songs could actually impart a certain emotion on me while listening, I hope someday to be able to achieve that ourselves. Shania Twain is just a bop queen.

The Band CAMINO has been killing it recently and just keep coming out with banger after banger. While I patiently wait for their first full length album I’ll jam my current favorite track “Less Than I Do”. Everybody in Young Culture appreciates quality pop songwriting and “NASA” by Ariana is a perfect example of a perfectly crafted pop song. Young Culture also loves heavy music that puts emphasis on guitar riffs. Gotta represent the Equal Vision blood with Gideon. They just put out one of the heaviest songs of the year that puts other hardcore/metalcore bands to shame.

⁃This song holds a lot of value for me. Lyrically its such beautiful and inspirational song and I really take its message to heart. Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Take Me As You Please – The Story So Far
⁃This is one of those songs where I heard it for the first time and instantly fell in love. It immediately struck a chord with me and i was pretty surprised to hear something like this from TSSF, i think a lot of people were.
Self Control – Frank Ocean
This track is from one of my all time favorite albums. Just another beautifully showcased song, written about heartbreak in a very special way. I think its a great indicator of how music is still growing and evolving in ways that people wouldn’t really expect.

I never really been into Khalid, but I was just scrolling through YouTube the other weekend and saw he did a song with Kane Brown a country artist and I thought to myself “oh damn, that’s a cool collab”. Ended up falling in love with the song. The simplicity of production caught my attention immediately. Another thing that stood out was the arrangement. Super sick pop song. Both the Wet and blackbear songs have a vibe that i’ve been super into and trying to incorporate with new YC.
